Jenny Dettwiller Ms. Weaver CP Writing 8 September 2009 Once In A Life Time Have you ever wondered it would be like to have 28,000 people watching you all at once? I doubt many people have had the experience, but I have. In the fall of 2006 I showed my walking horse in front of 28,00 people. National Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville, Tennessee brought our family together, provided remarkable memories and felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity. The National Celebration is like glue with my family, it brings us closer together. The Celebration is one of the few times a year we hangout as a family. One of our favorite activities is going to watch the show. After the show when I placed, we would always go back to the barn and have a party. Another activity we do together is sight seeing around the Celebration grounds. There are quite a few large tack shops on the grounds. Outside the grounds there are many elegant restaurants, we enjoy trying a new one every night. I do enjoy spending time with my family; this event just helps us make time for each other. There are many wonderful aspects about going to the National Walking Horse Celebration; the best part is all of the memories. One of my favorite memories is of actually showing at the Celebration. I wont ever be able to forget the first time entering the large outdoor show arena, with all of the people watching down on my horse and me. When I was planning my trip to the Celebration, I would have never dreamt of placing 4th in my class. My second favorite memory would have to be watching the different classes at the show. A big part of the reason I enjoyed watching the show is because I received the privilege of watching my horse take reserve world grand champion. People told me before I went there would be a large number of people at the show, and I thought they were being overdramatic; however I soon realized they were not when I seen the 28,000 people in the stands. I have had quite a few good memories in my life but I will never forget showing in the arena. Most people spend their vacations at the beach; I spend mine at the National Celebration, which is an unbelievable opportunity. In the fall of 2006 I got the opportunity to show my horse at the National Celebration. The majority of the people who show at the celebration are people who have 70,000-dollar horses, so there is tough competition. Many of the horses that travel to the Celebration come from different countries with very recognizable known names. Attendance rating at the Celebration is extremely high. With the large number of people at the Celebration, the tickets to each show are difficult to receive. With 28,000 people who attend the show, some people find it hard to get around, which may be the shows only disadvantage. Not many people get this opportunity but I am glad I did. The anxiety of showing in front of 28,000 people was completely worth it in the end. It was an amazing, unbelievable opportunity I will never forget. |
