2005-03-02 SC Fire : Structure
23:10- Mullins Engine 2, Engine 3 responded possible commercial structure fire at Sav-Way Food Store on W. Hwy 76. Upon arrival of C-3, nothing evident. Further investigation showed employee was draining grease from deep fryer and grease spilled onto fryer igniting. Fire was extinguished prior our arrival. No damage reported. All units placed in service.

01:47- Mullins Engine 2, Engine 4, Engine 1, Squad 1 responded structure fire at 2412 McArthur Rd. Upon arrival, single story residence approx. 1300 sq. feet, flames and smoke showing from side A. Interior attack made with 1 3/4" line. Marion City Fire requested for mutual aid manpower and also responded 1 engine to our station for coverage. Fire originated in bathroom and quickly spread to attic, slowly begining to vent through roof.Used PPV to ventilate. Fire extinguished in attic area. Extensive salvage and overhaul found no hidden fires. Heavy heat and smoke damage to entire interior area of home. Power disconnected by Pee Dee Coop. Extinguished w/ approx. 7000 gallons of water. Scene was placed under control and all units returned to service.

04:46- Mullins Engine 2, Engine 4, Engine 1, Squad 1 alerted back to 2412 McArthur Rd for structure fire. Upon arrival heavy flame involvment all four sides, already vented through roof with partial collapse. Requested mutual aid from Marion City Fire and Rains Vol. Fire Depts, for water supply and manpower. Also requested Horry County Station 38 to respond engine to our station for coverage. Exterior attack was very difficult with 25+ mph winds steady feeding fire. Firefighters, already fatigued were also battling the 35 degree temps with rain/sleet mixture falling. Used 2 1/2" attack and 2- 1 3/4" attack lines to knock fire down. MCSD Investigator notified to respond. After a long 2 hours fire was finally knocked down. Extensive salvage and overhaul in place. Used 24,000 gallons of water to extinguish fire. Home was a total loss. Last units cleared at 07:33 and returned to station.

08:46- Mullins Engine 4, Squad 1 responded to 6906 Tumolo Ct for elderly female pt that had fallen inside residence and unable to gain entry to house. Upon arrival forced entry through rear door w/ pry bar. No damage to structure. Patient found COA, c/o pain to left knee. County EMS arrived and tx patient to MCMCER. All fire units placed in service.

15:22- Mullins Medic 1 responded to S. Main St at Dr. Thourani's office for patient in severe resp. distress. All County EMS units tied up. Upon arrival elderly female pt found sitting in exam room. Past Med. Hx of CHF and HTN. Placed on O2 via NC @ 3 LPM. O2 sats were 97%. Patient full of congestion. tx to MCMC for direct admit to ICU/Telemetry unit.

11:35- Mullins Engine 2, Squad 1 responded 2 car MVA on East Front St and Briarcreek Ct. Upon arrival 1 car in road and 1 car resting in canal ditch. All patients out of vehicles refusing tx. County EMS obtained waivers. Notified Dispatch to contact Carolina Southern Railroad due to railroad crossing sign being destroyed in wreck. Placed in service by MCSD on scene. All units cleared available.

21:48- Mullins Engine 2, Squad 1 responded report of an MVA, vehicle vs. utility pole on E. Hwy 76 just before Little Pee Dee River. Upon arrival 1 vehicle resting upright off roadway appeared to have rolled once. Utility pole clipped in two, hanging only by power lines. Notified for Pee Dee Electric and Progress Energy to respond due to widespread power outage. 1 patient found lying in rear seat of vehilcle. Pt very COAx2, but some altered mental status. Strong odor of ETOH. Patient had laceration to forehaed and bruising to chest cavity. Noone else around vehicle. Stated he was not driving. Steering wheel was bent on top and also starburst on windshield. Patient immobilized and transported by County EMS to MCMCER. Remained on scene until arrival of utility company and SCHP. Placed in service by SCHP, all untis cleared available.

04:45- Mullins Engine 2, Engine 3 responded to report of possible commercial structure fire at Sav-Way Food Store on Hwy 76. Upon arrival nothing evident. Further investigation found that workers stated there was a small fire in the deep fryer, but was now out. Nothing found, everything ok. Clerk also stated that one of the gas pumps were leaking. Found approx. 5 gallons of fuel on ground. Placed oil dry down. Pump was taken out of service and manager notified. All units placed in service.

13:35-Mullins Engine 2, Brush 1 responded brush fire on Rosedell Ct. Upon arrival found brush fire out of control that started from burning yard debris. One structure being threatened. Fire was quickly contained and extinguished. No damage to structure. All units returned to service.

Mother stated she was flushing out pic line when she noticed air bubble. Child began coughing and site started to bleed. Bleeding was minor and controlled Pt care turned over to County EMS. Squad 1 in service.

17:00- Mullins Squad 1 responded to Carmichael Ct for subject not breathing, possible DOA. Upon arrival subjects wife stated she had just come home from work and found him on floor. stated he had extensive cardiac Hx along with numerous other problems . Appeared to have been down for extended period from obvious signs. Notified responding EMS unit of findings, and were advised to standby for their arrival. Upon EMS arrival, notified County Coroner. Scene left w/ EMS, Sqaud 1 in service.

19:09-Mullins Engine 2, Squad 1 responded report of possible MVA on Bluff Rd 1 mile from Gapway Church. Upon arrival vehicle off roadway vs. tree. Significant damage to vehicle. 1 priority 3 pt, out of vehicle sitting on back of bystanders truck. 21 y/o female c/o pain to L shoulder and both knees. Airbag did deploy and starburst noticed on windshield. Pt had two lacerations to backside of L arm, and small laceration to L side of forehead. Immobilized w/ C-Collar and place on LSB. Cleaned and dressed lacerations. Pt turned over to EMS care. All units placed in service by SCHP.

12:a.m. Station 1 and 2.were dispatched the the CC camp of Cucumber to a Structure Fire 201 War Fire Dept. was also dispatched for Auto. Mutual Aid. Rescue 1, Engine 1,Engine 3,Tanker 1 and other units responded from both station. First due units arrived to find a Garage Fully Involved. the Fire was brought under control within 5 mins of first arriving Engine. Damage to a 2 Tow Trucks, Total loss of a vehicle, and to the fireground building, also minor damage to an exposure building. Units were clear call and back in quaters on 2:30a.m.
