| Dispatched on 5/9/2009@ 1348 hours for a barn fire @ 3677 NY67 in Buskirk. Buskirk Car-1 Arrived to find a heavily involved 15x20 open storage shed with one vehicle inside, with fire already extended into the 20x50 barn, which included 2 more vehicles. The homeowner stated he had started his work truck to charge the battery, when he returned to the truck he found it ablaze with fire extending to the shed. Buskirk responded with 5-6, 5-7 Brush-5, and was assisted on the scene by North Hoosick 23-6, 23-7, R-23, U- 23, Cambridge ER 22-4, ETA 22-1, ETA 22-2, Johnsonville 19-6, 19-7, 19-8 & Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad. Other mutual aid departments including Hoosick Falls 17-2, West Hoosick 41-1, 41-7, Valley Falls 40-6, White Creek E 47-2, Greenwich E 32-3 w/ F.A.S.T. were either returned to service or placed to cover other departments. | MFR Eng4 responded Mutual Aid to Grady Rd in the Rains Fire District for a Residential Structure Fire. Upon arrival, units found a single story brick structure 40% involved. MFR units made an aggressive interior attack on the fire that had already vented the roof on the Alpha-Delta corner of the structure. | Traffic through the village was backed up early Thursday after a car hit a power pole, drooping it and wires across Route 1A.
Peter Wing, 45, of Searsport suffered minor injuries in the 6:11 a.m. crash. It took a Central Maine Power crew a couple of hours to remove the wires and replace the pole.
Wing was driving north in a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina when his car suddenly veered into the opposite lane. Wing turned back into his travel lane but overcorrected and went onto a lawn at 379 South Main St. and hit the pole. The car was totaled.
