EVENING BLAZE LEAVES ONE HOME DESTROYED,A 2nd HOME WITH DAMAGES, AND A FIREFIGHTER INJURIED

Berwind Fire-Rescue-EMS recieved tones for both stations and 201 war Fire Dept. to respond to the Cucumber Creek area. two a report of a single Residental fire. Abandoned Home. Units arrived on Location to find a Home. 70%gone. Units moved in to investigate area. Firefighter B. Gayness Noticed smoke coming from a 2nd abandond residence 200 yard from the first fire. the 2nd set was called in by the firefighter. units conveged on the 2nd fire building. Firefighter Gayness and Brigham made entry into the 2nd fire building to find a matress with fire. the fire was put out. the 2nd fire building sustained minor fire, smoke and water damage. While packing eqipment back up. Lt. Fred Gayness sustained a Leg Injuries. the Firefighter was transported by ambulance to Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Details on the injuries are unknown. both fires are under investigation.
