Yellville is a town of approximately 2,000 population located in north central Arkansas, about 30 miles south of the Arkansas-Missouri state line. The town is situated on Crooked Creek, a popular fishing stream during wet weather, and is a northern gateway to the Buffalo National River. In all, it is a quaint, quiet mountain town reminiscent of Mayberry. The people are exceptionally friendly and the county boasts a low crime rate.

Yellville Fire & Rescue is a city department with a rural district. The department is all volunteer and consists of 20 members. Yellville Fire Dept. responds to EMS calls with several EMS first responders and EMTs. Due to the number of accidents in the area, Yellville personnel are also thoroughly trained in auto extrication and rescue. The majority of the members have hazardous materials classes as well. The department stays very busy and responded to 307 calls in 2007.
