Duncansville Fire Dept. takes on a new identity

Posted: June 17th, 2006 :: Blair Township-Duncansville Fire Department

The Duncansville Volunteer Fire Department was made the primary fire department for all of Blair Township at the Blair Township Supervisors meeting in May. The new department will be known as the Blair Township-Duncansville Fire Department. It will be funded in part by money collected through Blair Townships EMS tax as well as continued fund raising efforts of the members. The box alarms for the new department will remain similar to the ones already in place, with some minor changes, but all reflecting them to be Station 20 box alarms. Duncansville Fire Department has been the primary fire department responsible for covering 53% of the population of the township for several decades. With the continuing growth of the township its Supervisors recognized a need for their own fire dept. & began talks with Duncansville. A new substaion is now in place on Rte. 220 near Burchfield's Auto Salvage and is currently housing apparatus & being renovated.
