WATER ST. FIRE
A JOB WELL DOWN BY ALL
Fire Destroys Vacant House and Damages Another
On the morning of Thursday February 9, 2007 just before 5:30am, Catskill Police Department dispatched the Catskill Fire Company to a working structure fire at 233 Water St. When arriving on the scene the vacant two-story wooden house was completely engulfed in flames and the fire was beginning to spread to a neighboring home. An interior attack was performed on the second building and after about 2 hours the fire was under control. Within an hour of being on the scene the first building collapsed. Mike Ferro from Hudson Waste Management was called in with an excavator to move the debris around so they could finish putting out the rest of the fire. The first building was completely lost but the majority of the second was able to be saved.
