Fire fighters save house in Gamaliel area

Quick action by fire fighters from four area fire departments helped save a house in the Gamaliel last night.
According to a report from 101-Gamaliel Fire Chief Rob Griffith the fire occurred at a residence a 869 Fout Road. The chief declined to release the name of the homeowner.
Chief Griffith said they received a report of a structure fire about 10:30 last night. He said the first arriving fire fighters found an out building engulfed in flames with the fire extending into the house and a boat. He said they were able to get the fire under control with 30 minutes.
The outbuilding and boat were listed as total losses with fire, smoke and water damage to the house estimated at 25 percent.
Cause of the fire was listed as undetermined.
Also assisting were fire fighters and equipment from Henderson, Northeast Lakeside and Bakersfield.
It was the fourth major house fire in Baxter County within the past week.
