An early morning fire has destroyed a house in the 101 area.
The Baxter County 911 Center said the house was reported on fire at 2:41 this morning with fire departments from 101-Gamaliel, Henderson and Northeast Lakeside responding to the fire located just south of PQ's One-Stop.
Assistant Gamaliel-101 Fire Chief John Marks said the one-story, two-bedroom house was not occupied at the time and has been up for sale although the owner, Don Wilains, had indicated he had been doing some remodeling and planned to move back into the residence. Marks said the house was extensively involved when the first fire units arrived. He said the cause of the fire, at this point, is undetermined.
Baxter County Deputy James Tilley, who was helping secure the scene, said they were waiting for the structure to cool down to allow an investigator from the department later today to try and determine the cause of the fire.
