The Late Francis Edgar The Late Francis Edgar "Pa" Haley Sr.
Service: 62 Years
1925 - 2005 / / / Born in Pownal on Sept. 16, 1925. A World War II Navy veteran, he served from 1943 until April 1946 and was stationed aboard the USS Mindanoa. Mr. Haley was employed by the former Hunter Machine Co., now Berkshire Morrison, in North Adams as a shipping expeditor, retiring in 1992 after 49 years of service. He joined the Pownal Fire Protective Association in December 1946 and was the last surviving charter member. Mr. Haley was a dispatcher for many years and, for 26 years, department treasurer. He was a member of Richard E. Ruether American Legion Post 152 in Williamstown, D. Glurren VFW Post in Clarksburg and the Bennington County Sheriff?s Department. He will be deeply missed by all the members of the Pownal Fire Protective Association.
