Yellville Volunteer Fire & Rescue Personnel

Chief

Billy Joe EvansBilly Joe Evans
Our fire department is blessed with a natural leader. Chief Billy Joe Evans is a very involved and caring man. He has moved up through the ranks of our volunteer department and has more than proven himself. Chief Evans is completely volunteer like the rest of the department. He spends much of his personal time on nights and weekends shuffling paperwork and returning phone calls. He never asks more of his members than he is willing to do himself. Our chief is backed by a wonderful family. Sandy Evans, the chief's wife, is a first responder and the department's safety officer. Their daughter Kala is a firefighter and first responder. The Evans' other child, Steve, spends a good deal of time helping out as well.

Assistant Chief

Bill MartinBill Martin
Bill Martin serves as Assistant Chief-EMS for our department. Bill is an EMT and a full time employee of Baxter Regional Medical Center EMS. He also handles building inspections for the department.
Shawn LaneShawn Lane
Shawn Lane is Yellville's Assistant Chief-Operations. Shawn is a very active member of the community and works full time for the local telephone company. He's also served with Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Captain

Jim CheeverJim Cheever
Jim Cheever owns a local towing service and auto garage. So, when a truck breaks down, he's a natural resource for us to call on. Jim is a man of integrity and an asset to the Yellville community. He's also one of the best extrication rescuers in the area!
Mike KerwoodMike Kerwood
Mike not only likes playing fireman, he likes playing police officer as well. Mike works part time as a metro police officer for Yellville and Summit in Marion County. As a firefighter, Mike is cool and analytical. He's dependable in a crisis and a fine individual to boot.

Training Officer

John VanScoyJohn VanScoy
John is a master electrician and department supervisor at the local Ranger Boats factory. He is an accomplished instructor and a good project manager. Thus, he comes in handy with coordinating training and activities within our department. Being a boss at work, he can drop things and run if the fire's a bad one. Plus, he can work on our wiring! John's wife Aimee has spent a lot of time working on our fire department auxiliary. Though not an active firefighter, she is a staunch supporter and is very much appreciated.
Loye HellumsLoye Hellums
Loye is a first responder and firefighter. He enjoys sharing his knowledge, so the department sent him to instructor 1 school. Loye is known for his easy going attitude and his enthusiasm. If given a task, you can count on Loye to follow through. Loye's ability to stay calm in a crisis has been demonstrated on more than one occasion.

Fire Fighter

Brady MaddenBrady Madden
Brady has to be the closest firefighter to the station. He lives on the street directly behind our department, so he can get here fast! Brady has lots of experience with big trucks, so he's a natural for driving our bulky, balky tanker. You'd never think from his slow Southern drawl that Brady works weekends as an auctioneer! Brady has a heart of gold and often volunteers his auctioneer skills for charity events.
Carlos ParkerCarlos Parker
Carlos Parker is not only a member of our department, he's also the county's Emergency Management Director. He keeps us posted on the latest state rules, regulations and grants. Carlos is very involved with the community. We are lucky to have him aboard.
Chad SlechtaChad Slechta
Chad is one of the quieter members of our department. He is dependable and can take on any job, usually with a smile. Chad is handy to have around due to his ability to work on anything from electrical problems to engines to construction.
Cyril Whittington
Service: 2 Years
He fits in with the department will with the exception of the cajun accent.
John CoffmanJohn Coffman
John Kaufman comes to us from another area fire department and is a ready made fireman. Just add gear, hose, and stir! John has demonstrated an ability to quickly adapt to any fire truck he's placed in. He's quick to volunteer for those duties no one else really wants. His cheerful nature is a bonus, too!
Kala EvansKala Evans
Kala is the daughter of our fire chief. She's a sharp young lady and has grown up around the fire department. She is very knowledgeable and has demonstrated a special interest in the EMS side of the department. Currently, Kala is in college with the goal of entering the medical field. When home on the weekends, she responds on calls and keeps her hand in on the station's events.
Kevin GouletKevin Goulet
Kevin owns his own construction company in town. He's one our "go-getter" firemen and will jump into a bad fire or rescue with both feet. He's excellent at auto extrication. Kevin and Jim Cheever make up the heart of our rescue team on any bad car wreck. (see the picture's gallery)
Kim RameyKim Ramey
Kim Ramey assists with secretarial duties at the fire department as well as responding as a firefighter. She is a natural caregiver with animals, so any lost or injured pets get brought to her. Her most recent acquisition was a small puppy found sitting in the middle of the highway by a state trooper. Of course, it was named "Trooper".
Lonnie StoneLonnie Stone
Welcome, Lonnie! Lonnie is our newest recruit. Like some of our other firefighters, Lonnie is also into law enforcement. He serves as the Metro Officer for the local sheriff's office. Lonnie has a great sense of humor and is fitting in well with the members of the department. Very well, if you notice from the picture...
Nathan RogersNathan Rogers
Nathan has finally let himself be talked in to joining Yellville FD. Nathan works as an investigator for the Marion County Sheriff's Office and has had an interest in firefighting for a while. He's a very likable fellow and will be a great asset to our department.
Russell Stockdale
Service: 1 Year
Shannon Hellums
Service: 1 Year

Safety Officer

Sandy EvansSandy Evans
The title of "Safety Officer" really doesn't do justice to Sandy. Not only does she fulfill that role, she's a first responder, secretary, consultant, problem solver, and the right hand man, I mean assistant, to the fire chief. Sandy is Chief Evans wife and is a loyal supporter of anything to do with the department. Many suppers have grown cold while Billy and Sandy have attended to patients and made fire runs in the evening hours.
