What is the best thing about being a Firefighter?
Being able to help out the community I live in.

Why did you join the department?
I originally joined so that I could help out in my community. Ever since then, I've wanted to learn more about the craft of fighting fires, working with patients and becoming an instructor to help mentor to the junior firefighters in my department.

What was the most memorable incident you have been involved in?
One car fatal with an infant. It led to me leaving my old department. When I moved to WV with my (now) wife and moved to my current town, I got on this department. It's a great department and I feel I can really help mentor to the new breed.

What goals do you have for yourself?
Become a RESA trainer in EVOC and Firefighter I/II. Gain my confined space technician certification, Swiftwater Rescue Technician and any other certs. I can get! I'd like to get my EMT-B back (I allowed it to expire about 5 years ago).

What advice would you give to someone interested in becoming a firefighter?
Train whenever you can and remember that you are the image of the fire service. What you say/do affects the public's image of us all. Why train? It only takes one fire to kill a firefighter.
